It's a challenge for Australia to achieve unprecedented feats.

The highest peaks have been successfully scaled.

This is the squad that has claimed seven Cricket World Cups, plus six more T20 titles, and earlier maintained nearly four years unbeaten in 50-over cricket.

The secondary achievements, the ones sought by the record chasers, are all that remain for a team that has won it all.

That it took until Sunday's victory by three wickets over India for them to complete their first ODI chase above 300, reclaiming their record for the highest in the female 50-over format, is, frankly, a compliment to the pitchers that have sported the yellow jersey over five decades.

It's challenging for their hitters to possess a record if never given the opportunity.

Ultimately, the result of Australia conceding 330 was skipper Alyssa Healy being given a platform to produce her latest masterpiece.

Initially recognized as the 19-year-old niece of celebrated previous Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she debuted in 2010 after her nation failed to win either of the T20 or ODI World Cups conducted earlier and has experienced everything through 15 championship-filled years since.

A T20 championship victory happened three months after her debut and seven international trophies have resulted from 10 tries across formats.

The tough gloveman was present as well in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final defeat by India temporarily stopped the winning streak.

That loss "drove us to rethink our standards," Healy commented earlier.

At the next 50-over World Cup in New Zealand, Healy made 170 against England in the championship match and was awarded tournament MVP. She guaranteed her country would not fail again.

Whether this newest brilliant performance topped that previous effort can be debated.

Some will argue the reasoning behind the pressure of a final. Others can counter with the challenge that comes when pursuing an unprecedented total and an enthusiastic Indian fanbase of 20,000.

What's definite is this ton was far harder to predict.

The Christchurch destruction in 2022 happened while she topped the run-scoring charts, but this performance came after six matches in India from the beginning of the previous month in which she had not exceeded 30 runs.

"For those following me in training, it was a challenging time because it appeared I lacked timing whatsoever," said Healy.

"But once you enter the playing area, your fighting spirit kick in and you just lock into the match."

Healy's fighting spirit has consistently been her major advantage - and a priceless quality in taking over from legendary former captain Meg Lanning.

She was tormented by India's rising star Kranti Gaud in the previous month's ODI series, dismissed by the 22-year-old seamer in each encounter, but this time it merely gave Healy's inspiration.

A single came off Gaud's first delivery and after that the batsman was in motion.

"A chance to play and engage in competition with her and just have a bit of fun that way, kind of motivated me," said Healy.

She achieved fifty in 35 deliveries - her swiftest at the global tournament - and her century in 84 balls as she punished short deliveries, striking 21 boundaries and three big hits.

By the time she was out her side needed 66 additional runs at run per delivery - a manageable total now needing a comfortable finish.

"Chasing 330 runs is uncharted waters so I'm pleased we have the belief to do that now," added Healy.

"Hopefully we don't have to repeat it but, if we do, we are confident we can achieve it."

That comment will be the last competing nations at this championship want to hear.

Over the past five days a feeling they will win from any position has grown stronger - this triumph following success over Pakistan by 107-run victory despite sitting at 76-7 at one point.

Following this Australia face Bangladesh before an encounter with longtime competitors England in Indore in ten days, by which point a last-four spot may likely be confirmed.

During that phase they were eliminated from the previous year's T20 World Cup in an unexpected loss by South Africa - a game Healy couldn't play because of damaged tissue in her foot as she led her country for the first time at a major tournament.

So great is her will, she later said she wished she had played despite the injury.

However although she afterwards confessed those physical issues have postponed thoughts of retirement, this tournament is likely to be her concluding event as leader in ODI cricket and she is hasn't yet secured a world championship as skipper.

Victory in India would lead her to the peak of her final mountain.
